About this Image

Guadalupe River, Bandera, Texas

This photograph was made along the Guadalupe River during late fall in the Texas Hill Country. The cypress trees were at their a bit past peak, the water was low and clear, and the light filtered through the canopy in short, warm bursts that only happen a few weeks each year.

I’ll be honest, the Hill Country challenges me. I feel far more at home in deserts and mountains, where the lines are bold and the scale does a lot of the work for you. Texas in the fall is quieter, more layered, and easier to overthink. I come back to it every year anyway, because I love this river and these trees, even when I struggle to translate them the way I want.

This image is one of those attempts. Not a grand scene, not a sweeping vista, just a moment of light, water, roots, and color coming together long enough to feel right. It’s part of my ongoing effort to slow down and listen to landscapes that don’t announce themselves loudly.

Context and Landscape

The Guadalupe River flows out of the Edwards Plateau and winds through the Texas Hill Country, shaping limestone banks and nourishing some of the largest bald cypress trees in the state. Near Bandera, the river narrows and slows, creating shallow bends where exposed roots grip rock and gravel along the water’s edge.

Bald cypress are one of the few conifers that turn color in the fall. For a brief window each year, their needles shift to warm shades of gold and copper before dropping into the river below. These trees often stand directly in the water, their flared bases and exposed roots adapted to flooding, drought, and constant change.

The Hill Country doesn’t follow the dramatic seasonal shifts found in higher elevations, which makes these moments easy to miss. When conditions align, though, the combination of clear water, textured bark, and soft autumn light creates a quiet richness that feels deeply rooted in place.

Creation Notes

This image was captured as a single exposure with careful attention to framing and timing as the sun filtered through the trees.

Additional Details About The Print

Acrylic Brilliance

Acrylic brings depth, clarity, and presence that traditional prints simply cannot. Light moves through the image, giving the photograph a dimensional quality that feels immersive rather than flat. The result is a piece that holds attention across a room and feels as bold as the landscape it came from.

Limited Edition 25

Limited Edition works are produced in an edition of 25 total prints, regardless of size. Once all 25 are sold, the edition is permanently closed and never reproduced as a single print again. Every piece is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and a personal narrative that captures the story behind the image, from the journey to the moment it was created.

Mounting and Displaying your Art

Each piece arrives ready to hang with a professional aluminum cleat system affixed to the back. The cleat interlocks with a matching wall bracket to float the artwork approximately one inch off the wall, giving a refined gallery presentation. For small prints where a cleat is impractical, alternate hardware (screw or wire hanger) may be used on request. Because wall materials vary, we do not supply wall anchors and strongly recommend professional installation, especially for large or high‑value pieces. Image as example only, exact hardware can vary slightly

  • LIFETIME RUNS

    Limited Editions

    of 25 Prints

Every photograph released as a limited edition is capped at twenty‑five total prints across all sizes and finishes. Once all twenty‑five are placed, the edition closes permanently and is never produced again. Your piece will be accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity documenting the edition number (for example, 3/25), the title, and a personal narrative about how the photograph was captured and created. A serialised holographic sticker links the certificate to the artwork, ensuring provenance and authenticity for resale or appraisal.

  • MATERIALS & PRINTING

    Acrylic

    Face-Mount Process

Each limited edition print is produced using a gallery‑grade acrylic face‑mounting process. The image is printed on high‑resolution metallic photo paper with archival inks, then permanently bonded to UV‑resistant acrylic using an optically clear adhesive. This technique allows light to pass through the acrylic and reflect off the metallic print, creating depth, vibrant color, and a dramatic presence. Cast acrylic is used to prevent yellowing over time, and the edges are polished for a refined finish.

  • MOUNTING & DISPLAY

    Ready to

    Present

Each piece arrives ready to hang using a professional aluminum cleat system affixed to the back of the artwork. The cleat interlocks with a matching wall bracket, causing the print to float roughly one inch off the wall for a clean, modern presentation. Due to the weight and value of these pieces, professional installation is strongly recommended.
