I stopped waiting for the conditions I wanted and started working with the ones I had. The light was low. The sky was heavy. The sea stack stands firm while the water below churns and pulls at its base. The trees hold on where they shouldn’t be able to. The scene doesn’t offer softness or ease. Storm systems move in quickly, often lingering for days, flattening light and muting color. Sea stacks like this one are remnants of headlands carved away by constant wave action, left isolated as the ocean continues its work.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"1754\" data-end=\"2009\"\u003eThese formations support small, resilient ecosystems, trees and vegetation clinging to thin soil atop exposed rock. Below, the Pacific never settles for long.
